Long-term partnership – Trappenfabriek Vermeulen
Since 1987, Goldsteen Metal Manufacturing & Design (then still Henri Teulings & Zn.) has maintained a close partnership with Trappenfabriek Vermeulen – now the largest staircase manufacturer in the Netherlands.
The collaboration began when Kees Mol, then head of the steel division, visited the workshop in ’s-Hertogenbosch with a special request: curved and polished brass handrails for three steel spiral staircases at Hotel Oud Londen in Zeist.
After that success, more projects followed — including work in Gouda and Dordrecht, where Goldsteen introduced stainless steel (RVS) to Vermeulen’s stair production.
Since then, Goldsteen has produced countless stainless-steel staircases, railings, and wall handrails, and occasionally classic brass handrails and balustrades.
The collaboration continues to this day — with Goldsteen working alongside many specialists within Vermeulen’s wood and steel divisions, from design to installation.
👉 A partnership spanning over 35 years, built on craftsmanship, trust, and innovation.

Dandelion Lamp – collaboration with Richard Hutten and Moooi (2001)
Source: Brabants Dagblad (30 August 2007), various design publications
Goldsteen Metal Manufacturing & Design played a key role in the development and production of the now iconic Dandelion Lamp, designed by Richard Hutten and published by design label Moooi.
Where earlier attempts using stamped thin sheet metal proved unfeasible, Goldsteen proposed producing the design by laser cutting and folding aluminium. This innovative approach created the right combination of rigidity, aesthetics, and lightweight construction, making the lamp suitable for production.
Goldsteen manufactured the first prototypes and developed the full production method, after which Moooi began ordering the lamp in batches of 100 units. The lamp became a major commercial success and one of Moooi’s best-selling products in its early years. In total, Goldsteen produced over 5,000 pieces of the Dandelion.

Collaboration with Moooi (2004–2020)
For sixteen years, Goldsteen Metal Manufacturing & Design worked closely with Moooi, the international design label founded by Marcel Wanders. Goldsteen developed and produced metal parts for dozens of lamps and furniture pieces, ranging from prototypes to full series.
A key element of this partnership was the production of the Dandelion lamp by Richard Hutten, manufactured in series by Goldsteen for many years. Goldsteen also frequently supported Moooi at international fairs, such as the annual Salone del Mobile in Milan, by producing prototypes and custom metal components.

For this prestigious project, architect Donald Starkey envisioned a central staircase in the shape of a seashell. The wish was that the steps would be attached only on the wall side, fully hidden behind the decorative cladding.
Goldsteen Metal Manufacturing & Design developed and manufactured the complete step construction in stainless steel and created deep-drawn, double-curved shells for the brass treads. For each step (12 in total, each uniquely curved), Goldsteen designed and produced a dedicated steel press mould – a positive and a negative – to form the brass under high pressure.
The treads were then polished, bright-nickel plated and chrome plated for a striking finish. The result achieved exactly what was intended: at first sight, the owner exclaimed only one word – “Wow”.

International Superyachts – from Moonen to Feadship
Goldsteen Metal Manufacturing & Design (formerly Teulings) has been active in luxury yacht construction for decades. Starting in ’s-Hertogenbosch with gilded brass stair railings for Moonen Yachts, the company grew in the 1990s into international assignments. One milestone was the stainless-steel tent structure for the royal yacht Al Salamah (see above), which introduced Goldsteen’s craftsmanship to the global yachtbuilding industry.
Since then, Goldsteen has delivered structural and decorative metalwork for leading shipyards such as Oceanco, Lürssen Yachts, Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw, and especially Royal van Lent Shipyard (Feadship).
